Debate on indulgences and the papacy

addthis

This debate was held in Leipzig, Germany June 27-July 5, 1519. Disputants were Johann Eck, a scholarly debater of the Christian faith, against Andreas Karlstadt, a German Protestant reformer and Martin Luther. Various aspects of Catholicism were debated but the two main ones were indulgences and the office of the Pope. This book contains a record of the debate, but it is more than that. It is also a history of much of Luther’s journey out of Catholicism.
