In the words of author Homer Hailey, "The book of Revelation has a concrete setting in a definite period of history and deals with actual problems which Christians faced late in the first century.” Various symbols display the reality of powerful moral and spiritual forces involved in a violent clash in which the forces of God are ultimately triumphant.
The saints of that day found much encouragement and gained the crown of victory. But the message in the Book of Revelation continues to instruct and edify God’s people today. It reveals the principles of victory through righteousness and truth, and the ultimate fate of all that is false.
According to Hailey, "Some of the prophecies are yet to be fulfilled, such as the passing of the current order, the resurrection of all, the judgment of the just and the unjust, and the final reward and punishment of both the righteous and the wicked. Consequently, these future aspects of the book of Revelation are to be recognized.”
